I first saw this drink a couple of days ago on The Educated Barfly, and the second Leandro said “how did I not think about this?”, I was like « Yep!… same ».
It’s one of those cocktails that feels almost too obvious once you see it. Super simple, but ridiculously good. It drinks like an Old Fashioned, but with that coffee-forward Carajillo DNA baked right in.
Instead of using bitters, the coffee liqueur does the job, and it works way better than you’d expect. Licor 43 adds a soft sweetness and vanilla note, and the split base of cognac and rye gives you both richness and spice. It’s balanced, smooth, and dangerously easy to sip.
Here’s how it’s made:
Carajillo Old Fashioned
1 oz cognac
1 oz rye whiskey
¼ oz coffee liqueur
¼ oz Licor 43
步骤
Add everything to a mixing glass with ice, stir until ice cold, then strain over a big cube.
Garnish with three coffee beans (or whatever cool coffee garnish you’ve got on hand).
Cheers!
