SCANDANAVIAN (CHERRY) ROLLS

DOUGH:
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
1 c. margarine (melted)
3 egg yolks
1 c. milk
1 pkg active dry yeast
1/4 c. warm water
1/2 can cherry pie filling
ICING:
Pwdr. sugar
Milk
Butter
Vanilla
วิธีทำ
Combine flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Melt margarine in a separate bowl in the microwave and add milk to cool; mix in egg yolks. Add yeast to warm water and sprinkle in a pinch of sugar.
When yeast has proofed (foamed), combine yeast with wet ingredients. Gradually add dry ingredients until thoroughly combined. Let stand in refrigerator for about 3 hours or overnight.
Cut dough into 4 equal parts. Take out of refrigerator one at a time (keep others cool). On a slightly floured board (dough will be sticky), roll into 12" x 16" slab, abt 1/4" thick; cut into 6 strips.
On greased and floured cookie trays, start in middle of intended area for location and twist loosely as strip is layed out in a circle. (Counter-clockwise twist usually works better if right-handed.) A loose twist - not close and piled is better.
*LET RAISE FOR 1 HR. BEFORE PUTTING ON CHERRIES!!! (They do not raise much)
Bake at 350° for 15-20 min.
Watch them; they go fast and will dry out if over-baked.
Cool on cookie racks. Once cool, drizzle with icing. (for best look - keep at angle, all lines in the same direction.)
