Mom’s Recipes
German Sweet Chocolate Cake*

4 1-ounce squares german sweet chocolate
1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
4 egg whites, stiffly beaten
วิธีทำ
Melt chocolate in boiling water; cool
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy
Add yolks, one at a time, beating well after each
Blend in vanilla and the chocolate
Sift flour with soda and salt
Add alternately with the buttermilk
Beat after each addition until smooth
Fold in beaten egg whites
Pour into 3 8" or 9" pans, lined with wax paper
Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes
Cool; frost tops with Coconut Pecan Frosting
