Ultimately Garlicky Bread

Ingredients

1 French baguette

15 garlic cloves, crushed

60g Parmesan (or vegetarian altemative), grated

150mI extra-virgin olive oil

1 tsp dried oregano

Salt and black pepper

Directions

1 Preheat the oven to 170°C/150°C/gas mark 3.

2 Split the baguette length-wise, then cut each length in half cross-wise. Place on a baking tray, cut side up.

3 In a small bowl, stir together the garlic, Parmesan, olive oil, oregano and some salt and pepper to form a thick paste.

4 Using a butter knife or spatula, evenly divide the mixture between the baguette halves, spreading it out in an even layer.

5 Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the baguettes are lightly browned and the garlic mixture is bubbly, watching carefully to be sure they don't burn.

6 Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly, then slice into pieces and serve.
