Sour Cream Noodle Bake

Ingredients

- 1 pound ground beef

- 1/2 medium-sized yellow onion, peeled and diced

- 1 garlic clove, minced

- One 15-ounce can tomato sauce

- 12 ounces egg noodles

- 1/2 cup sour cream

- 1 1/4 cup small curd cottage cheese

- 1/4 teaspoon pepper

- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

- 1 1/2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese

Directions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and onions until the beef is almost browned and onions are softened, about 5-8 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently.

3. Stir in the tomato sauce, combine well, and let it simmer while you prepare the other ingredients.

4. Boil a large pot of water. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

5. In a medium bowl, mix sour cream, cottage cheese, pepper, and onion powder until well blended.

6. Combine the sour cream mixture with the noodles, ensuring the pasta is evenly coated.

7. To assemble, place half of the noodles in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Top with half of the meat sauce, then sprinkle half of the cheese over the sauce. Repeat the layers.

8. Bake for 20 minutes, or until all the cheese is melted.

9. Carefully remove the casserole from the oven. Serve immediately or let it rest for 5 minutes. Enjoy with a side of green salad and crusty bread.

Notes

For a twist, add some chopped fresh herbs like parsley or basil to the cheese mixture for added flavor.
