2 1/4 cups white sugar
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla
Directions
In heavy saucepan, combine sugars, milk and margarine. Stir mixture constantly over medium heat until sugar dissolves and it comes to a boil.
Cook until mixture reaches 235°F on a candy thermometer or soft ball stage.
Remove pan from heat. Place saucepan in sink of cold water and add vanilla. Do not stir. Leave in the cold water for 10 minutes.
Remove pan from water. Beat candy starts to hold shape and loses its glossy appearance.
Turn into buttered 8 inch pan.
