total timeIngredients
18 ⅕ gm olive oil
560g pkt Classic Beef & Pork Meatballs
2 brown onions, halved, thinly sliced
3 fresh thyme sprigs
2 garlic cloves, crushed
16.00 gm brown sugar
40.00 ml traditional gravy powder
500ml (2 cups) water
24 ⅖ gm Worcestershire sauce
155g (1 1/2 cups) Pizza Blend Shredded Cheese
Small thyme sprigs, extra, to serve
Crusty bread, to serve
Directions
Step 1
Heat oil in a large, heavy-based, ovenproof frying pan over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook, tossing occasionally, for 3-5 minutes or until golden. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm.
Step 2
Reduce the pan heat to medium-low. Add onion and thyme, then cook, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes or until onion is soft and light golden. Add garlic and sugar, and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds or until aromatic. Add gravy powder and stir until well combined. Gradually add water and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly until liquid comes to the boil.
Step 3
Return the meatballs to the pan. Cook, turning halfway through, for 10 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through and the gravy thickens slightly.
Step 4
Preheat an oven grill to high. Sprinkle cheese on top of the meatball mixture and grill for 3 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Sprinkle with extra thyme sprigs. Serve with crusty bread alongside. Watch our step-by-step video below to see how to make our one-pot cheesy French onion meatballs.
