SWEET AND SPICY CRISPY TOFU

14 oz block extra firm tofu
2 tbsp tapioca, arrowroot, or cornstarch
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp avocado or olive oil
2 tbsp sriracha
2 tbsp coconut aminos, tamari, or soy sauce
2 tbsp sesame oil
2 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp ground ginger
salt u0026 black pepper to taste
Directions
Preheat oven or air fryer to 400 and prep a baking sheet or air fryer basket.
Drain the liquid from the tofu packaging and use a tofu press or heavy object to press the tofu for 20-30 minutes. If using a heavy object, wrap the tofu in paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.
Once pressed, cut the tofu into small, even cubes. Add to a large mixing bowl and toss with the starch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Add the coated tofu to the pan and toss with the oil to coat. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes or the air fryer for 10 minutes, then use a spatula to flip the pieces over, and bake for another 10 and 5 minutes respectively.
While the tofu cooks, make the sauce by whisking all of the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl. When the tofu is done, let it cool down, then toss in your desired amount of the sauce and enjoy.
