Butter Sponge Cake

Ingredients

11 egg yolks beaten

2 cups sugar

1 cup scalded milk

1 tsp. vanilla

2 1/4 cups cake flour

2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 cup melted butter

Directions

Beat egg yolks with sugar until light colored and fluffy. Add slightly cooled milk and vanilla. Sift flour and baking powder three times. Add to egg mixture, fold in butter. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes in 2 paper lined 9 inch pans. Frost with powdered sugar icing.

Notes

This recipe was my mother's. (your Grama Martha Wall) She baked it often in the summer time as we had lots of eggs.
