Main Ingredients
1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ cup yellow onion, finely diced
1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 cup baby bella mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 packets instant brown gravy mix
2 cups water
Directions
In a large bowl, whisk together both gravy packets with the water until smooth and lump-free. Set aside.
In a separate mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely diced onion, onion powder, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until everything is evenly incorporated.
Shape the mixture into about 5 patties, keeping them uniform in size.
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil, sliced onion, and mushrooms. Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring now and then, until softened. Push the vegetables to one side of the pan.
Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
If there’s excess grease, carefully drain it. Return the skillet to medium heat and pour in the prepared gravy mixture. Stir continuously until the sauce thickens to your liking.
Serve the hamburger steaks covered in gravy alongside mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered egg noodles. | Stir of Comfort
