Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup rolled oats

2 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons honey

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon salt

1 packet active dry yeast

1 cup warm milk

2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted

1 egg lightly beaten

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

In a small bowl combine warm milk and active dry yeast, stir gently and let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes.

In a large bowl whisk together flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

Add honey, melted butter, and beaten egg to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.

Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.

Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 to 7 minutes.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Punch down the dough, shape into a loaf, and place it in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.

Cover and let the dough rise again until it reaches about 1/2 inch above the rim of the pan, about 30 to 45 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 375°F.

Bake the loaf for 25 to 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

Remove from the oven, cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
