Angel Biscuits (Lucille Moore, Margia)

5 cups flour
1 cup shortening
2 cups buttermilk
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
¼ cup sugar
3 tbsp baking powder
1 pkg dry yeast
¼ cup warm water
Directions
Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup of warm water.
Add buttermilk to yeast mixture.
Sift dry ingredients and cut in shortening.
Gradually add yeast and buttermilk mixture.
Mix well.
Roll out 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick, cut with biscuit cutter.
Let rise until light then bake.
May be stored in refrigerator but let rise before baking.
Bake at 450 degrees.
Rising time - about 1 1/2 hrs
Dip in oil on both sides.
