Penuche Frosting

2 cups brown sugar
1 cup heavy cream
pinch of salt
1–2 T. butter
1 tsp. maple flavoring
Directions
Cook sugar, cream and salt 10 minutes (boiling over medium heat) or until a soft ball. Add butter and flavoring. Beat until spreading consistency.
Notes
I use 1/2 recipe for the applesauce cake.
