1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 yellow onion, chopped
salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp chili powder
pinch of cayenne, optional
2 tbsp tomato paste (see note)
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup heavy cream
3/4 cup beef broth
1 lb shelf stable gnocchi
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
fresh chopped parsley, optional, for topping
Directions
In a skillet over medium heat add the olive oil, beef and onion. Season with salt and pepper. Let the beef cook until it is cooked through, crumbling it as it cooks. If there is excess amounts of grease you can remove some. I personally like for there to be a little bit for added flavor.
Add the garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, cayenne, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, heavy cream, beef broth and gnocchi. Mix everything up and bring to a boil.
Reduce to low heat, cover and let simmer for 4-5 minutes. The gnocchi should be tender.
Stir in cheddar cheese and mix until melted. Taste and adjust seasoning if desired.
Serve and top with fresh chopped parsley.
