Sift cake flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt, cloves, and cinnamon together in a bowl. Add brown sugar, shortening and buttermilk and beat for 2 minutes. Add 3 eggs. Beat 2 more minutes. Bake in greased and floured cake pans for 35 - 40 minutes at 350. Frost with easy penuche icing.
