Apples (3 lbs of apples will give you around 1 qt. of applesauce)
1/3c Sugar (optional)
Cinnamon (optional)
Directions
Wash, peel, core, slice apples.
Add to pot along with sugar and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat until soft, approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Stir occasionally, especially when beginning to cook, to prevent sticking. Mash or add to blender to get smooth consistency.
Pour your applesauce into jars. Wipe rim of each jar with a damp cloth. Place jars in canner. Fill with enough hot water to cover the jars by 1 to 2 inches. Turn burner on medium high heat. Once the water starts to boil, reduce heat slightly and process both pints and quarts for 20 minutes. Remove jars and place on towel to cool. Leave them for 24 hours before storing. Test seals before storing.
