Homemade Biscuits

Ingredients

2 cups flour

1 tsp sugar

1.5 tbsp baking powder

3/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup cold unsalted butter

1 cup milk

Directions

Preheat oven to 450°. Let your cast iron skillet preheat in oven.

Whisk together all dry ingredients. Cut cold butter into slices and incorporate into dry mix by squishing it with your fingers to mix. Add milk and gently stir until incorporated, do not overmix!

Turn dough out onto floured surface. Dough will be sticky so have flour nearby to add in while working the dough.

Spread dough into a large rectangle, then start folding over in half several times. (Roughly 14 folds)

Remove cast iron from oven and spread a thin layer of butter.

Use biscuit cutter or wine glass to cut out biscuits, add to cast iron pan and bake for 15 mins.
