1/2 cup glutinous rice balls (100g glutinous rice flour, 30g sugar or to taste, 50 mL water)
2 mandarin orange fruit cups
1 large banana, diced
2-3 tbsp sugar, or to taste
1.5 tbsp corn starch + 3 tbsp water
Directions
If you do not already have glutinous rice balls, mix together glutinous rice flour, sugar, and water. Knead until dough forms. On a surface floured with more rice flour, cut dough in half and roll into long thin log (1/2 cm in diameter). Cut log into 1/2 cm sections and gently roll each section until dough is spherical. Dust with more glutinous rice flour to prevent sticking
Bring 2 quarts of water to boiling on a pot. Dice up banana and gently shred mandarin oranges with fingers.
When water is boiling, add in glutinous rice balls. Simmer over medium heat for 1 min. Add in bananas and 2-3 tbsp sugar. Continue to simmer.
The glutinous rice balls are done cooking when they float to the surface. At this point, add in orange chunks and corn starch slurry. Stir, this should thicken up soup.
