Apple Dumplings

1 1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 1/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup of milk
6 small apples, peeled and cored
1/3 cup sugar
Instruções
In a pot bring sugar 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg with 2 cups of water to a boil. Simmer for five minutes. Remove from heat and add butter.
Combine flour, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Cut in the shortening until coarse crumbs. Add all the milk in at once and stir until moistened. Form dough into a ball and roll on a floured surface. Formed into an 18 x 12” rectangle and cut into 6 inch squares.
Place Apple in the center of square. Sprinkle generously with 1/3 cup sugar mixed with 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon +1/4 teaspoon nutmeg. Dot with butter. Fold corners of dough up over apples and moisten to hold together. Place in a 9 x 13 dish. Pour syrup over.
Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until apple is tender.
