1 lb Italian sausage or ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 clove garlic, minced
3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon sugar
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can tomato sauce
oven ready lasagna noodles
1 container small curd cottage cheese (2 cups)
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 oz)

Cook sausage, onion, and garlic in medium sauce pan over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sausage is no longer pink.
Stir in 2 tablespoons of parsley, basil, sugar, tomatoes and tomato sauce. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally; reduce heat. Simmer uncovered about 45 minutes or until slightly thickened.
Heat oven to 350 degrees Farenheight
Mix cottage cheese, 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, oregano and parsley.
Spread a layer of sauce mixture in 13x9 pan, then noodles, then cottage cheese, then mozzerella cheese. Repeat twice more sprinkling 1/4 cup parmesan cheese over top.
Cook covered for 30 minutes. Uncover and cook 15 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool 10 minutes before serving.
