Sloppy Joe Pierogi Casserole

Ingredienti

1 lb lean ground beef

1 yellow onion, diced

1 tablespoon chopped garlic

3/4 cup ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon yellow mustard

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 tablespoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon pepper

3 lbs frozen pierogies

3 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend

4 slices bacon, cooked and chopped

2 green onions, chopped

Istruzioni

Preheat oven to 375F.

Drop the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat and break it apart.

Add the diced onions to the skillet with the ground beef. Stir well and continue cooking the ground beef until it is fully browned.

Once the ground beef is well browned, drain any excess grease from the skillet.

Add the chopped garlic. Stir well and continue cooking for 2 minutes.

Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, brown sugar, onion powder, salt and pepper to the skillet.

Stir until all of the ground beef is well coated in sauce and then remove the skillet from the heat.

Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish well with cooking spray.

Place half of the frozen pierogies in the bottom of the dish.

Spoon two thirds of the ground beef mixture over the pierogies.

Sprinkle 2 cups of the shredded cheese over the ground beef mixture.

Place the remaining pierogies on top of the cheese.

Spoon the remainder of the ground beef mixture over the pierogies.

Sprinkle the remaining cup of shredded cheese on top.

Sprinkle the chopped bacon pieces over the cheese.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and place it in the oven.

Bake the casserole, covered, for 35 minutes.

After 35 minutes, remove the foil. Continue baking the casserole, uncovered until the cheese is fully melted and the bacon has crisped up. About 10 minutes.

Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the chopped green onions on top.

Serve and enjoy!
