Cinnamon Apple Cake Recipe

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup sour cream

2 cups peeled, cored, and chopped apples (about 2 medium apples)

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Set it aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.

Combine with Sour Cream: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.

Prepare Apple Mixture: In a small bowl, toss the chopped apples with brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

Assemble Cake: Spread half of the cake batter into the prepared cake pan. Top with half of the apple mixture. Spread the remaining batter over the apples, and then top with the remaining apple mixture.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.
