German Potato Salad

5 pound potatoes
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup of water
1 cup of vinegar
Bacon
Cornstarch

Fry bacon and break up. In a skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Set the bacon aside. Add sugar, cornstarch, salt and pepper to drippings. Stir in vinegar and water; bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Pour over cooked & sliced potatoes. Refrigerate.
