This sauce is so delicious, you’ll not believe it only takes 20 minutes to make! One bite and you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a tiny, family-owned trattoria in Rome. 🇮🇹
All you need is a can of whole tomatoes and a few simple ingredients. Fresh, flavorful, and perfect with your favorite pasta.
You’ll need-
1 (28-ounce) can whole tomatoes
4 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
6 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
1 cup fresh basil leaves
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
步骤
Make the sauce-
Crush the tomatoes by hand and set aside.
Add the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat with the garlic cook until lightly golden.
Add the tomatoes, butter, salt, and red pepper flakes.
Bring to a gentle boil, then add the basil.
Lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
My pasta tip-
Cook your pasta 2 minutes less than the package directions.
Save a little pasta water before draining. Add the pasta directly to the sauce with a splash of pasta water. Toss over low heat for 2 minutes. This lets the pasta absorb the sauce instead of just coating the pasta.
Trust me—it makes all the difference!
Finish with freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino Romano, a drizzle of good extra virgin olive oil, and a few fresh basil leaves.
Simple food always wins. ❤️
