Chicken Shawarma

Chicken marinade:

5-6 chicken thighs
2 heaping tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
3 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon chili flakes
1 heaping teaspoon salt , black pepper, sumac
5 garlic cloves minced
Juice of a lemon
Butter Glaze
Tablespoons melted butter
Zest of a lemon zest
Tablespoon of lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
One large onion to use as a base sliced lengthwise.
Pre soak 2 wooden skewers in hot water for 20 minutes.
Trim the chicken thighs of fat.
Add all of the chicken marinade ingredients. Mix and massage well. Use right away or marinate for 30 minutes or more .
Air fry 390 degrees F for 22-25 minutes depending on your air fryer. Flip half way thru brushing on the butter glaze. Before and after flipping the chicken. You can also oven bake 400 degrees F for about 25 minutes. Keep on eye so it does not ever cook and dry out chicken.
Remove and push on the half an onion for a base and baste with glaze one more time.
Cut with a sharp knife into thin slices.
Serve over rice or in a hot pita .
