Chocolate Meringue Pie

1/4 tsp cream of tartar

3/4 c sugar

3 egg whites

1/2 c chopped nuts

1 1/2 c semi sweet chocolate chips

6 T hot water

2 tsp vanilla

2 c heavy cream, whipped

步骤

Sift:

1/4 tsp. cream of tartar

3/4 cups sugar

Beat:

3 egg whites stiff, but not dry. Add sugar gradually.

Spread meringue in a well buttered 9 inch pie pan. Sprinkle 1/2 cup chopped nut meats over top. Bake at 275 for 1 hour. Cool thoroughly.

Filling:

Melt 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet (or part milk) chocolate chips in double boiler uncovered.

Stir in 6 T. hot water. Cool until thickened, stirring constantly. Add 2 tsp. vanilla. Cool.

Fold into 2 cups of heavy cream that has been whipped. Pour into cooled meringue shell.

Chill at 3 hours. Keeps days in refrigerator.

This is very rich. Serve very small pieces. Nice pie for a party. It is so delicious! Got it from Eunice Berry.
