1 lb butter (4 sticks)
2 cups sugar
2 tbs water
1 tbs vanilla
1 pkg of sliced almonds
1 pkg milk chocolate chips

Line cookie sheet with almonds evenly. Parchment paper is best.
Put all ingredients (expect chocolate and vanilla) in a heavy deep pot.
Cook just under high, stirring often until deep dark amber color (10 mins max, 270 degrees on candy thermometer or soft crack, not sticky gooey, when you put a small ball drop in water bowl). The mixture in the pot will rise and then fall and smell like burning and will turn a golden color when ready.
Then add vanilla right at end.
Pour over almonds and spread evenly.
Wait like a few mins. Then sprinkle choc chips over and spread evenly with back of spoon as they melt.
Store at room temp on counter or in fridge
