OLIVE GARDEN BREADSTICKS

2 tablespoons sugar

1 packet active dry yeast

1½ cups warm water

3½ cups all-purpose flour, add more or less as needed

1 tablespoon salt

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

1 recipe Butter Topping

BUTTER TOPPING

½ cup butter

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1 teaspoon salt

In a large bowl, dissolve sugar and yeast in warm water and let sit 10 minutes, until frothy. Add flour, salt, and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon until fully com- bined. Knead dough for a few minutes, just until dough is smooth in consistency. Spray a cookie sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Pull off pieces of dough and roll out into strips. Cover the dough with a light towel and let sit in a warm place for 45 minutes to rise. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Bake breadsticks 6 to 7 minutes. Brush the breadsticks with half the Butter Topping. Return bread- sticks to oven and bake 5 to 8 more minutes.

Remove breadsticks from oven, brush the other half of the Butter Topping on the sticks, and serve immediately.

Melt butter, garlic powder, and teaspoon salt together in a small bowl.
