Apple Fritter Waffle Donuts Recipe

For the Waffle Donuts:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup milk

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon melted butter

1 large apple, peeled and finely chopped (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)

For the Glaze:

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

1/4 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Prepare the Batter:

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

In a separate bowl, combine the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.

Fold in the chopped apple pieces.

Cook the Waffle Donuts:

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Lightly grease the waffle iron if necessary.

Spoon the batter onto the waffle iron, using about 1/4 cup for each waffle.

Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and cooked through, approximately 3-5 minutes.

Carefully remove the waffles and let them cool slightly on a wire rack.

Prepare the Glaze:

In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Glaze the Waffle Donuts:

Dip each waffle donut into the glaze, ensuring it's fully coated.

Place the glazed waffle donuts back on the wire rack to allow the glaze to set, about 10-15 minutes.
