Mezcal and Amaro Montenegro have long been a bartender-favorite pairing. The smoke from the mezcal balances Montenegro’s bittersweet orange and spice perfectly. I leaned into an uneven split here so the mezcal didn’t get lost. Agave spirits ground espresso beautifully, and Montenegro’s orange notes build on a citrus and coffee pairing that has always worked.
M&M Espresso Martini 🍸
1½ oz. / 45 ml. mezcal
½ oz. / 15 ml. Amaro Montenegro
½ oz. / 15 ml. coffee liqueur
1 oz. / 30 ml. espresso
¼ oz. / 7.5 ml. agave syrup

add all ingredients to shaker tin / add ice and shake until chilled / strain into coupe or Nick and Nora / garnish with coffee beans
