First served in the 1930s by Donn Beach, the Zombie just might knock you flat but without tasting like it. Don’t skip a single ingredient— though I should note that this recipe is a modified (maybe even simplified) version if you can believe it or not. But this thing is pure chaos in balance. It’s worth sourcing everything at least once so you can try it out.

1½ oz Jamaican rum
1½ oz Puerto Rican rum
1 oz 151-proof Demerara rum
¾ oz Fresh lime juice
½ oz Fresh grapefruit juice
½ oz Falernum
¼ oz Grenadine (a real one!)
2 dashes aromatic bitters
2 dashes Herbsaint or absinthe
Mint bouquet and Luxardo cherries
Shake with crushed ice, dump into a tall glass, and top with more ice. Garnish with fresh mint and Luxardo cherries.
