Heather’s Bulgogi Flank Steak

Ingredients

1 lb lean beef flank steak (trim off all visible fat)

½ cup soy sauce

1-2 pks artificial sweetener (or use real white or brown sugar)

2 cloves minced garlic

Black pepper to taste

½ bunch chopped green onions

Hướng dẫn

Trim beef well, and then cut into strips with the grain. Cut strips into bite sized pieces. Mix together all the additional ingredients to make the marinade. Add the steak strips to the marinade and refrigerate overnight. Broil on a broiling pan with a riser so the meat can drain while cooking arrange the strips so they don’t overlap. Broil at 500 degrees on top shelf of oven for 5 minutes on 1 side then turn all the pieces over with a tongs continue to broil for 2 additional minutes. Take them out of the oven test a piece to make sure it’s done to your liking if not then broil for a minute or two more.

Ghi chú

I like to replace the sugar with applesauce and maple syrup. Traditional bulgogi marinades use Asian pear but you can substitute applesauce.

Serve with brown rice, julienne carrots and cucumber, bean sprouts, and shiitake mushrooms and make a bulgogi bowl out of it. Delicious!!
