ðĻ Homemade Vanilla Pudding

2 Â― cups whole milk
Â― cup granulated sugar
ž cup cornstarch
ž teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract (imitation vanilla will get closer to the classic boxed flavor)

1. Mix the dry ingredients: In a medium saucepan (off heat), whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
2. Add milk slowly: Gradually whisk in the milk until everything is smoothâno lumps.
3. Cook the pudding: Place over medium heat and cook, whisking constantly, until the pudding thickens and starts to bubble gentlyâabout 5â8 minutes.
4. Finish: Remove from heat. Stir in the butter and vanilla until smooth and glossy.
5. Cool: Pour into small containers or a bowl. Press plastic wrap directly on the surface to prevent skin forming. Let cool to room temp, then refrigerate at least 1â2 hours.
ðŪ Optional Add-Ins for Authentic Texture:
A tiny pinch of yellow food coloring (for that pale Snack Pack look)
Use 2 cups whole milk + Â― cup 2% or 1% for a slightly thinner texture if preferred
