CAKE
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
2 cups sifted cake flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
5 egg yolk
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
MERINGUE
5 egg whites at room temperature
5 tablespoons sugar
Pinch salt
Ice cream
วิธีทำ
Stir shortening to soften
Sift in dry ingredients
Add egg yolks and 1/2 of the milk
Mix until flour is dampened, then beat vigorously for 2 minutes
Add remaining milk and vanilla and beat 1 minute longer
Bake in a greased 9x13 pan at 350 for 35 minutes; cool
Beat egg whites until stiff
Add sugar slowly, IT at a time, until stiff peaks form
Meringue should be ready to use before ice cream is removed from freezer
Cut cake to fit ice cream
Place on wooden board
Top with ice cream and spread meringue on
Make sure to seal all edges and no holes show
Bake in preheated 500 oven for 4-5 minutes, til lightly browned
Let dessert cool and then place in freezer
Allow 15 minutes warm up time before slicing
