1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup warm water
3 cups sifted flour
1/4 cup chopped/sliced almonds
2 packages yeast
2-1/2 cups sifted flour
1 egg
1/4 pound + raisins
1 tablespoon water
2 eggs beaten
วิธีทำ
Scald milk; stir in shortening, sugar and salt
Cool to lukewarm
Measure warm water into bowl; cool to lukewarm
Sprinkle or crumble in yeast; stir until dissolved
Stir into lukewarm milk mixture
Add 2 beaten eggs and 3 cup flour; beat until smooth
Stir in almonds and raisins
Stir in additional 2-1/2 cup flour
Turn out onto floured board and knead until smooth and elastic
Place in greased bowl; brush top with shortening
Cover and let rise in a warm place til doubled (1 hour, 15 minutes)
Punch down; turn out onto floured board
Divide dough in half and each half into thirds
Roll each piece into 18" long strip
Place three strips onto baking sheet; braid
Brush with butter again
Let rise til doubled, about 1 hour
Bake at 375 for 45 minutes
Glaze with beaten eggs and water 5 minutes before done baking
