Caramel Swirl Sweet Potato Waffles

1 cup mashed sweet potatoes (cooked and cooled)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
In another bowl, whisk together the mashed sweet potatoes, milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Gently fold in the brown sugar for a touch of sweetness.
Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a little butter.
