1 lb ground beef (or finely chopped steak)
2 garlic cloves, minced
¼ cup finely chopped green onions (plus more for garnish)
1–2 tsp grated ginger (optional)
2 cups cooked rice (white, jasmine, or brown)
1 tbsp oil (for crisping beef)
Sauce:
¼ cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
1 tbsp honey or brown sugar
1 tbsp rice vinegar
½ tsp chili flakes or sriracha (optional for heat)
1 tsp sesame oil
Optional: splash of lime juice for brightness
Toppings (optional but delicious):
Fried or soft-boiled egg
Shredded cucumber or carrots
Cilantro or sesame seeds
Extra sriracha or kimchi

Whisk sauce ingredients together in a small bowl. Set aside.
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up until crispy and browned (8–10 mins).
Add garlic, ginger, and green onions. Sauté 1–2 mins until fragrant.
Pour in the sauce and stir to coat. Simmer for 1–2 mins until slightly sticky.
Scoop hot rice into bowls and top with crispy beef mixture.
Add your favorite toppings and enjoy immediately!
Note
For extra crisp, don’t stir the beef too often—let it brown!
