Easy homemade Chinese. BBQ Pork

1/4 cup of dark brown sugar
2 tbsp soy sauce (or coco aminos)
2 tsp Chinese 5 Spice
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp white pepper
1 tbsp Hoisin Sauce
1/4 tsp red food coloring
2 lbs Boneless Pork Shoulder
(optional - water and honey)
Instrucțiuni
Mix brown sugar, soy, 5 spice, garlic, salt, pepper, and Hoisin (and red dye if using) together in a bowl to make marinade.
Trim fat and slice pork shoulder into 1” thick pieces
Coat pork in marinade and cover it in fridge for 3-24 hours
When ready to cook, remove pork 30 minutes before cooking to bring closer to room temp
Place pork on wire rack over baking sheet
(optional- pour a little water in baking sheet)
Bake at 425 for approximately 30 minutes (some ovens vary, use meat thermometer to verify pork is cooked)
Halfway through cooking, brush on the diluted honey
(optional- put pork under broiler for a few minutes after cooking to get that BBQ crispiness on outside)
Remove pork and cut into strips
Serve over rice, noodles or veggies
