Ingredients

2 cups sifted all purpose flour

3 tsp double-acting baking powder

1 tsp salt

6-7 tbsp shortening

1 cup buttermilk

Directions

Preheat oven to 450F.

Into bowl, sift flour, baking powder, and salt. With pastry blender or 2 knives, used scissor-fashion, cut in shortening until mixture is like coarse corn meal.

Make well in center; pour in 1/2 cup buttermilk. With fork, mix lightly, quickly. Add the rest of the butter milk.

Drop biscuits onto a parchment line baking sheet about 1" apart or fill greased muffin-pan cups about 2/3 full.

Bake for 12-15 minutes.
