Jasons Never Fail Dumplings

Prep Time: 25 minutes (plus 15 minutes drying)

Yields: 4 to 6 servings
Ingredients:
– 1 1/2 cups plain flour
– 3 tablespoons shortening
– 1 egg, well-beaten
– 5 tablespoons water
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and shortening.
2. Add beaten egg and water. Mix to form a soft dough.
3. Divide the dough into two portions. Roll each into thin sheets.
4. Let the sheets dry for at least 15 minutes (use freezer paper or similar surface).
5. Once slightly dry, cut sheets into small strips.
6. Drop strips into boiling broth and cook until tender.
Notes
Optional Tips:
– Use broth from boiled chicken breasts (deboned and shredded).
– Add black pepper to taste and a small amount of margarine (oleo) for added richness.
Note: Serve hot for comforting, tender dumplings.
