Amish Hamburger Steak Bake

1 ½ lbs Ground beef (80/20 blend for best flavor)
1 large Yellow onion (Diced finely)
4 cloves Garlic (Minced fresh)
½ cup Breadcrumbs (Plain variety)
1 large Egg (Room temperature)
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (Divided use)
1 tsp Salt (Plus more for gravy)
1 tsp Black pepper (Freshly ground, divided)
1 tsp Onion powder (For extra depth)
1 tsp Garlic powder (Enhances garlic flavor)
3 tbsp All purpose flour (For gravy thickening)
2 cups Beef broth (Quality broth preferred)
½ cup Heavy cream (For creamy gravy)
1 cup Mozzarella cheese (Shredded fresh)
1 cup Sharp cheddar cheese (Shredded fresh)
2 tbsp Fresh thyme (Chopped, for garnish)
2 tbsp Olive oil (For browning patties)
3 tbsp Butter (Unsalted preferred)
Directions
Prepare
Mix ground beef, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, onion and garlic powder.
Steaks
Heat olive oil in oven safe skillet over medium high heat. Sear patties 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown crust forms, transfer to plate
Gravy
Add butter to skillet, whisk in flour for 2 minutes. Gradually add beef broth and heavy cream, whisking until thickened about 4 to 5 minutes
Assemble
Preheat oven to 350°F. Return patties to gravy, spoon sauce over each one
Add
Combine mozzarella and cheddar, sprinkle generously over patties and gravy
Bake
Cover with foil, bake 20 minutes until meat cooked through to 160°F
Brown Cheese
Remove foil, bake 10 to 15 minutes more until cheese golden and bubbly
Rest
Let rest 5 minutes, garnish with fresh thyme
Serve Hot
Plate individual portions with extra gravy spooned over top

Cool completely, store in airtight container up to 4 days refrigerated
