Hamburger Steak with Onion & Mushroom Gravy

Ingredients

For the patties:

2 lbs ground beef

Chopped green onions

1 tbsp Brit’s Cookin’ Cajun Seasoning

½ tsp onion powder

½ tsp garlic powder

Black pepper, to taste

Few dashes Worcestershire sauce

1-2 tbsp Steen’s cane syrup (optional, but recommended)

For the gravy:

2-3 medium onions, sliced

1 container sliced mushrooms

4 tbsp unsalted butter

3 cloves garlic, minced

¼ cup all-purpose flour

3 cups unsalted beef broth

1 tsp Brit’s Cookin’ Cajun Seasoning

1 tsp Brit’s Cookin’ Garlic & Herb Seasoning

1 tbsp dried parsley

½ tsp beef bouillon powder

Directions

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, green onions, seasonings, Worcestershire, and Steen’s syrup. Mix well and form into patties.

Brown patties in a hot skillet on both sides, then remove and drain excess grease.

Add sliced onions and mushrooms to the same skillet. Cook until tender.

Deglaze with a splash of beef broth, then add butter and seasonings.

Stir in minced garlic and cook until fragrant.

Sprinkle in flour, stir well, and slowly pour in beef broth while mixing.

Let the gravy simmer then return the patties to the skillet.

Continue to simmer until thickened, spoon that gravy over the top, and serve hot over mashed potatoes or rice!
