Spicy Garlic Edamame (Asian-Inspired)
Ingredients:
•2 cups edamame in pods (frozen or fresh)
•1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
•1 tablespoon sesame oil
•2–3 cloves garlic, minced
•½ teaspoon chili flakes, or 1 teaspoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
•1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
•Optional: a squeeze of lime or sprinkle of furikake
⸻
Directions
Instructions:
1.Cook edamame:
Boil or steam edamame in salted water for about 5 minutes, until tender. Drain well.
2.Sauté garlic & chili:
In a pan, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add garlic and chili flakes or sriracha. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant (don’t burn the garlic!).
3.Add edamame & season:
Toss cooked edamame into the pan. Add soy sauce and stir until well coated, about 1–2 minutes.
4.Finish & serve:
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and optional lime juice. Serve warm or room temperature.
⸻
🔄 Variations:
•Add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup for sweet heat.
•Use miso paste or gochujang for a deeper umami kick.
•Make it a cold side: Chill the cooked edamame and toss with the sauce ingredients as a dressing instead of sautéing.
