Sate Beef Or Chicken

1 k rump steak (sliced thinly) or chicken thighs (bite size pieces)

1 T cornflour

1 t bicarb

1 t brown sugar

1½ T water

2 T soy sauce

1 T rice wine

2 T oil

1 onion, sliced thinly

1 garlic clove, chopped finely


50ml Jimmy’s Sate Sauce

50ml rice wine

2 T brown sugar



Marinade the beef or chicken for a min of 30 mins.

Make sauce by measuring out the sate sauce, rice wine and sugar in a jug. Add water until it reaches the 1 cup mark.

Set aside.

Cook beef or chicken in frypan in batches until almost cooked. (No need to add oil to pan as the oil in the marinade will be enough)

Remove each batch.

Add a little more oil to frypan if needed and add onion.

Cook until soft and then add garlic.

Fry few more mins.

Add sauce and bring to boil.

Turn down to simmer and add chicken or protein.

Heat until cooked through.
