These wholesome oat slices are packed with chia seeds and naturally sweetened with banana—perfect for a quick snack or an easy grab-and-go option!
They’re simple to make with just a few ingredients:
1 large ripe banana
1 ½ cups rolled oats
1 cup milk
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tbsp almond or any nut butter (optional)
1 tbsp honey (optional – not for babies under 1)
1️⃣ Mash the banana in a bowl.
2️⃣ Stir in oats, milk, chia seeds, and any optional ingredients.
Directions
Mix well, then spread evenly into a lined baking dish (I use an 8×8 cake tin!)
Bake at 180°C for about 15 minutes or until set (baking times may vary).
Let cool completely before slicing and serving.
This recipe is a great finger food for baby-led weaning or can be mashed for spoon-feeding.
Tips:
Omit honey for babies under 1.
Baked chia seeds are safe for babies but can absorb liquid and expand. To reduce any choking risk, ensure they are well mixed into the batter and allow the slice to soften if needed.
Texture: At 6-9 months, the slice might be too firm for some babies. You can soften it with milk, water, or yogurt before serving.
Use breast milk, formula, or a dairy-free/plant-based alternative if needed.
Enjoy!
