Grandma Adams’ Snowflake Christmas Cookies
1 cup shortening
1 3-oz. Package cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 egg yolk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon finely grated orange rind
2 ½ cups sifted all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Preheat oven to 350F.
Cream the shortening and cheese well. Add sugar gradually and continue creaming.
Beat in egg yolk, vanilla extract and orange rind.
Sift flour with salt and cinnamon.
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture.
Fill cookie press and form cookies on ungreased aluminum cookie sheets, using snow flake plate.
Decorate with colored sugar, candies, etc.
Bake at 350F for 12-15 mins.
Remove at once from sheets. Cool on wire cake racks.
