Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

3 cups cranberries

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice

3 Cinnamon Sticks

1 ½ teaspoons orange zest, plus more for garnish

¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste

Directions

Add the cranberries, 1 cup of water, brown sugar, and orange juice to a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the cinnamon sticks.

Simmer, uncovered, until most of the cranberries have popped and the sauce thickens, 10 to 12 minutes.

Remove from the heat and stir in the orange zest, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt.

Let cool completely - the sauce will continue to thicken as it cools. Taste and adjust for salt if needed.

Chill if desired and garnish with more orange zest before serving.
