Red Lentil Daal (Mine)

190 g (1 cup) dry red lentils [680 kcal]
75 g chopped onion (about half an onion) [30 kcal]
705 g (3 cups) water
1 tsp (7 g) table salt
1 tbsp chopped coriander, for garnish
Nutritional information: 710 kcal, 46g protein, or 237 kcal, 15 g protein for 3 servings
Directions
Add lentils, onion, salt and water to saucepan, then bring to the boil.
Once the water boils, cover and reduce the heat. Leave to simmer for 1 hour, stirring regularly.
When the lentils have broken down and become thick, taste and season for salt. Add chopped coriander, and serve.
Notes
My version.
Lentils: red lentils, mung lentils, even split peas can work. Green lentils do not work as they do not break down.
