Good White Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white rice (calrose, basmati, koshikari, or jasmine)

  • 1.25 cups of water

Directions

  1. Wash 1 cup rice (preferably calirose or jasmine) in a a saucepan two times. Only want water to be clear if making fried rice

  2. Add 1.25 cups of water with salt and 1 tbsp of butter

  3. Cover the pot and on medium heat bring to near boiling (when bubbles start to appear)

  4. Turn the heat to lowest setting that allows some bubbles for 15-20 mins

  5. Use rubber spatula to look at bottom of pot, if still wet, keep on low heat for 2-5 more minutes. If dry, then its ready to serve

⁃saute rice with an egg, butter, and soy sauce

⁃add butter and maple syrup on top

⁃salt and pepper or soy sauce

⁃cook in chicken broth/stock

⁃season broth with salt, cinnamon stick, star anise, cardamon, and maybe pandan leaves. take out all but cardamon when done

⁃cook in chicken broth/stock

⁃stir fry garlic and ginger in some oil. after fragrance, add in uncooked rice and stir fry for few minutes. add sesame oil for flavor. finally add chicken stock to make rice.

⁃saute with garlic and onions in very small amount of oil

⁃add salt, stock and water. maybe bay leaf/maybe cumin and fennel

⁃Top with furikake

⁃get HOT rice, add raw egg

⁃melt 1 tsp butter, add 2/3 cup rice and 1 lime of juice. stir for 1 min. add 1 cup water and 0.5 tsp salt. bring to boil. at boil, cover, simmer about 25 mins.
