Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
For the sloppy joe base:
1 lb ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup ketchup
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
For the topping:
1 bag (28–32 oz) frozen tater tots
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup green onions, sliced
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Directions
Cook the beef:
In a large oven-safe skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
Add flavor:
Stir in onion and garlic, cooking until softened (about 3–4 minutes).
Make the sauce:
Add ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until thick and rich.
Add tater tots:
Arrange frozen tater tots evenly over the sloppy joe mixture.
Bake:
Transfer skillet to a preheated oven at 400°F and bake for 25–30 minutes, until tots are golden and crispy.
Add cheese:
Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top and return to oven for 5 minutes until melted.
Finish & serve:
Garnish with green onions and parsley before serving.
